Career Counseling: A Preemptive Strike
(or…You’re Not Living in My Basement After College!)

What do you want for your student? Success? Happiness?

How can they figure out what that means for them?

Through a series of meetings, we will guide your student through this process of self-discovery so they can make smart decisions about how to spend their time and your money.
  •     Uncovering interests, talents, abilities and his/her definition of success
  •     Exploring the most promising career options
  •     Identifying activities to help him/her experience these possibilities in a real way
  •     Setting goals: Narrowing the field to a top choice major/program with at least one backup plan
 Potential benefits:
  • Motivation in current circumstances
  • Direction for college/program search
  • Developing a proactive and exploratory mindset
  • Reduce the odds of need for transfer
Consider this
  • 80% of students change their major at least once
  • Changing a major may require more time in college
  • Changing a major may require transfer
  • (37% of students transfer at least once)
  • Potential to lose between 13 and 27 credits
